FASHION WEEK
The invasion of rock and rap royalty, socialites and stars for the annual MAGIC fashion convention is underway. It’s the largest apparel and accessory trade event in the country, with everybody from Paris Hilton to Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z taking part.
Paris and younger sister Nicky made colorist Michael Boychuck’s Venus salon at Caesars Palace their first stop for hair and makeup yesterday evening. They got the whole salon to themselves with full hair coloring, extensions and makeup treatment for the fashion events being held at the convention center and various nightclubs around town. After their blonde-blonde sessions, they hit PURE nightclub around the corner to show it all off to club-goers!
There’s even a new store opening as part of MAGIC week this evening: Sixty USA opens its dual men and women’s fashion store, Miss Sixty/ Energie at 5:30 p.m. in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace - and I can tell you, not only will there be a sneak peak of the fall fashion line, but the acrobatic models will be painted in the company’s attire instead of wearing it!!!
There are parties and presentations all over town, but here’s the top stars’ rundown for the next 48-hours to help you meet the celebrities and check out their ideas of fashion:
TONIGHT:
*Sean “Diddy” Combs flies in directly from his famous White Party out on New York’s swanky Long Island to host the launch party for his next Spring collection of underwear and loungewear. Guests confirmed to attend the bash at LIGHT in the Bellagio include rapper Fabolous, Girls Next Door beauty Kendra Wilkinson, porn princess Tera Patrick and rocker husband Evan Seinfeld, comedian Nick Cannon and Diddy’s underwear models, Aaron Pope, Mario and Selita Embanks.
* Human tattoo canvas and acclaimed rock drummer, Travis Barker celebrates his Famous Stars and Straps line with a TAO Beach party at the Venetian featuring Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon, Young Drop, Lil Duvall and DJ Spider.
* Lovely Mandy Moore will not only show off her new M-blem sporting collection, but she’ll give a live performance from her new Wild Hope CD at Ghostbar in the Palms.
* At PURE nightclub in Caesars Palace there are two celebrations: Wilmer Valderama debuts his cutting edge clothing line, Calavena, and Chester Bennington from rock group Linkin Park launches his new premium fashion brand Ve’Cel. While in town, Wilmer plans to visit the new LAX nightclub complex in the Luxor where he’s invested in the upcoming Company restaurant. *KISS co-founder Gene Simmons will have Indy Car Series race-drivers Marty Roth and P.J. Chesson on hand for his Dussault Apparel lines at the Shadow Bar in Caesars Palace, and then the long-tongued rocker will be at the company’s booth Wednesday to do interviews, pose for photos and sign autographs while showing the lines. They’ve just added a Hoodies collection from Criss Angel, Carmello Anthony, Rob Zombie and Nellie Furtado, and a jewelry line of distinctive rings, bracelets and necklaces already being worn by such celebrities as Cameron Diaz, Sharon Stone, Halle Berry, Will Smith, Spike Lee and Mel Gibson.
TOMORROW:
*Jay-Z is bringing his beloved Beyonce when he and rapper Eve host the Signature Apparel Group’s celebration of its brands, Bella Roc, Rocawear and Levi’s along with the re-launch of Fetish. Other celebrities on hand at TAO Beach in the Venetian will include pop sisters Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson, with steady beau Pete Wentz, Mary J Blige, Pharell Williams, Robin Thicke, Swizz Beats, Kendra Wilkenson, Sean Paul and DJ Samantha Ronson.
*Then Jay-Z will hop across the Strip over to JET nightclub in the Mirage to join R&B songstress Ciara and GIANT magazine to unveil the new Rocawear clothing line with Ciara as the new face of the fall collection.
* Nicky Hilton showcases her A-Chick fashions, with big sister Paris Hilton lending support as a surprise runway model attraction, at PURE in Caesars Palace.
*Singer Macy Gray will take on the personae of DJ Nemesis Jackson at the “No Magic, just Bebe” party, hosted by Karim Mashouf at MOON nightclub atop the Palms Fantasy Tower.
We’ll have full photo coverage of all the stars at play later in the week, and while LUXE LIFE has focused on the glitz, glamour, beauty and bling of MAGIC, I’d be remiss if I didn’t note that it all kicked off last night in the Venetian when the Compassionate Fashion Collective, using only environmentally healthy products of cotton, hemp and recyclable accessories, held its showcase of custom eco-friendly fashions.
