Congratulations to Boston Celtics star player Paul Pierce for being named MVP of the NBA Finals, and expect to see him right here in Vegas this weekend. Paul, who has played his entire career with the green-team averaged 21 points in the Finals that saw them win their 17th NBA title—and first in 22 years! Paul owns a luxury condo on the south strip alongside the South Point casino hotel and plans to party here with his winning teammates. The six-game championship ended with Boston beating the LA Lakers by 39 points, 131-92. The Lakers will be here in Vegas October 12 for their annual pre-season game against rivals the Sacramento Kings whose owner, Joe Maloof watched the trouncing on a bar TV at Iron Chef Kerry Simon’s new restaurant in the Palms Place. “I was thrilled at the result,” said a gleeful Maloof!
*Emmy Award-winning comedian and television host Jay Leno will perform two special engagements at The Mirage next Wednesday, June 25 and Friday, June 27 at 10 p.m. with proceeds going to The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation to assist the Iowa flood victims. Tickets are priced at $90 plus tax. Over the past decade, Jay has taken part in numerous fundraising campaigns. He assisted Hurricane Katrina victims, families of 9/11 and survivors of the tsunami in Southeast Asia. He also is dedicated to spending time and performing for American troops all over the world.
*A staggering $4 million worth of tickets has already been pre-sold by just one ticket agency for the new Donny and Marie Osmond show debuting in September at the Flamingo.
I’m told this is an unprecedented summer-months advance sale and indicates the brother and sister duo will be at almost sold out status before the show opens!
*For the past five years Joey Arias performed 10-weekly shows as the gender-bending dressed in drag mistress of ceremonies of Zumanity at the New York-New York resort hotel.
He said au-revoir to the X-rated Cirque sex-travaganza and has now turned up in downtown Manhattan to launch his new artistic show Arias with a Twist. That’s quite an understatement because he’s collaborating with brilliant, but bizarre, puppeteer Basil Twist. Joe gets to sing 12 numbers in the show including one from an alien spaceship in the depths of hell! He let slip that there will be a kick chorus line of nude puppets!
*I jumped the gun giving you those mid July opening dates for Carey Hart’s new Wasted Space rock lounge at the Hard Rock Hotel. Minor construction hitches in this ever vigilant age have pushed back the July 16 gala plans although there maybe a couple of private advance parties around there. I’m promised the new official opening date the minute it all becomes official.
*The Palm’s Maloof family have embarked on their new Maloof Music company and they brought their new group Rev Theory to the Rain nightclub there for a concert party to celebrate the their debut record release.

*Star Surveillance: At the Hard Rock, now retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather brought so many friends to dinner at Mr. Lucky’s in the hotel that the group took up half the restaurant! Floyd ordered up a steady stream of T-bones, chickens and prime ribs of beef and the guests insisted he was served first! … Singing sensation R&B star Ashanti celebrated the release of her talked about CD Declaration and when she and best-man-pal Floyd Mayweather discovered they were both in the same hotel he joined her party and bought seven bottles of Perrier Jouet champagne and a magnum of Patron tequila for her table! … Rocker Jared Leto turned up to support brother and bandmate Shannon Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars at the Body English nightclub where motocross champion rider Carey Hart was holding court too.

At Moon nightclub in the Palms: UFC fighter Diego Sanchez walked through quickly but Doc Martin, master mixer and DJ, spun an almost four-hour set till closing time in the Satellite Bar and former Sacramento King basketball star Mike Bibby, now point guard for the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, had 10 in his entourage, from just before midnight until 4 a.m. on the dance floor. … At Tao in The Venetian: Tuesday Access Hollywood correspondent and actress Maria Menounos dined with 12 friends in the Asian Bistro selecting Peking duck, Kobe beef and chicken satay while Super Size Me star Morgan Spurlock attended the CineVegas party in the Tao Nightclub.
