*For more than 10 years new Mirage headliner Terry Fator tried to bang on David Letterman’s door for an audition, but always got rejection letters and turn-downs. Now he’s just signed the new 5-year deal that Luxe Life broke exclusively the tables turn and Terry arrived in New York last night direct from the Vegas press conference and will appear on the comedian’s CBS late-night talk show tonight (THURS). Moments after The Mirage media meet we got a new exclusive one-on-one in-depth interview with the Strip’s new $100 million man and we’ll have that early next week.
*Sopranos actress Lorraine Bracco told me over dinner at Rao’s in Caesars Palace that she’s given up smoking and the first year of her Italian wines, since launching them in Vegas, has been a “complete sell out.”
Now starring as a “mean and nasty” book publisher in Brooke Shield’s NBC-TV series Lipstick Jungle she resumes shooting it in July. In addition Lorraine has optioned two books (the subject matter remains secret) that she will turn into script form and then act as excutive producer when she recruits fellow stars to appear in them. “Year two of the wine business is off to a great start and if I get the new TV series started with my own production company I will be very happy,” she told me.
*Even as Cirque du Soleil’s production team is in rehearsals for Criss Angel’s new Believe show they’ve also just begun first go-rounds on the new Elvis Presley themed production set for MGM’s new City Center in fall 2009. Choreographer Vincent Paterson, who is a judge on Bravo Cable TV’s Step It Up & Dance, has started plotting preliminary dance routines for the Elvis dancers!
*From the Surveillance File: Playboy model and former Beauty and the Geek reality star Jillian Beyor, hosted a Sexy Lingerie Pillow Fight Party at MGM’s Studio 54 nightspot. It was a night of delight and debauchery as she judged the contest between a bevy of saucy, sexy and sassy models battling it out for the “ultimate pillow fighter” title.
Dancing queen CeCe Peniston wowed partygoers from her VIP balcony at The Bank nightclub in the Bellagio while Mindfreak magician Criss Angel was mobbed by female fans wanting his autograph and photo!
MTV’s Best American Dance Crew, JabbaWockeeZ put on an extraordinary hip-hop breakdance routine at the Jet nightclub in the Mirage to celebrate their win and the 27th birthday of Chris Gatdula, a hometown member of the all-male dance team.
“Cristyles” was presented with a Jean-Philippe Patisserie birthday cake and then with appetite sated they presented their jaw-dropping synchronized skits.
*Carnival Cruise matriarch Lin Arison flew into Vegas with 10 close friends from Miami to celebrate her 70th birthday at The Venetian. Her birthday treat was front row center rooting for Cher at her Caesars Palace concert. Next week Lin will be honored guest at a unique dinner in the French Consulate in New York with our Vegas chefs Joel Robuchon, Daniel Boulud and Jacques Torres. They will cook a dinner based on the favorite dishes of famed artist Van Gogh. Lin has just published a breath-taking new art book Travels with Van Gogh and wants to bring recognition to a mysterious woman, Berthe Morisot, revered by the impressionist and his friends, Degas, Monet and Renoir. “My dream is to have the Met organize a huge exhibition of her 800 art pieces,” she told me. Lin will combine it with her “Put Art Back in Schools” project she is working on with everybody from Martin Scorsese, Placido Domingo, Mikael Baryshnikov, Sidney Poitier, Donald Sutherland, Styefanie Powers and Joan Collins.
