*Palms hotel tycoon, George Maloof has already got pop-stars Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, along with her fiancé Pete Wentz, to attend the official May 31 exclusive grand opening of his new condo-tower, Palms Place Hotel & Spa. Pete, himself, will play celebrity guest D.J. and starchef Kerry Simon will unveil his new menu and restaurant, Simon at Palms Place. More celebrity names are being added daily.
*Sexy “X” girl Brittany Palmer who co-stars with boyfriend Nathan Burton in his Flamingo afternoon magic show and then strips down to her skivvies for the late night topless cabaret revue there has been chosen as host of the second annual Vegas open!
*Its probably the world’s best cognac tasting. Our starchef friend Andre Rochat has put together a unique “flight” of two different cognacs and two different armagnacs for just $125. But it’s his collection of over 200 after-dinner drinks in his Spirits and Cigar Lounge downtown that is prized, and so rare, not ever found outside private collectors. Andre will pour you an 1848 Hardy Reserve Vintage, a 1900 Lheraud Vintage and he even has a 1914 Hardy Reserve. The shot of 1918 Armagnac by itself is $155. He’ll give you a sheet of historical facts to take with you from each vintage year you select. I didn’t know until he told me that one cognac is named “the year of the lady,” 1914, when the First World War begun because women were the only ones left to tend the vineyards!
*Luxe Life reported this week that rapper Lil John had asked The Venetian’s Tao nightclub partner, Jason Strauss, to keep his special Patron tequila bottle and glasses in a safe place for whenever he visits. Now we’ve obtained a photo of the diamond-encrusted magnum of Patron with matching silver drinking cups.
The silver glasses are branded with Lil Jon’s name, along with each of his entourage friend’s individual names. The Patron bottle and the silver glasses will remain safely locked up at the Tao Asian-themed eatery and will be waiting for Lil Jon whenever he parties at the Tao nightclub.
*From the Surveillance File: Avril Lavigne held a pre-concert celebration at the new Privé nightspot in Planet Hollywood Resort. She arrived with her band and dancers ordered Grey Goose vodka drinks and danced on the banquettes. It was her second visit to the hotspot, which she helped to open over New Years Eve. Also there rapper Too Short celebrating his birthday and hip hop star Pitbull performed three “throw the money around” songs. … Punk princess Avril then went onto Tabú Ultra Lounge in MGM Grand for the Rok Box original rock and mash-up party. She and her girlfriends stuck to Grey Goose and OJ, again danced on the Tabú tabletops until ending the night at 3 a.m. Also partying there was Dennis Haskins, known as Mr. Belding from the popular classic sitcom Saved by the Bell. … Fantastic Four actor Ian Gruffud and Matthew Rhys from TV’s Brothers & Sisters were surprise visitors to the Hard Rock Hotel’s Smashtime party and they recovered next day by sunning at the new resort pool with 15 friends watching the Rolling Stone magazine photographers working with music legends Eddie Van Halen and BB King.
