STRIP SCRIBBLES

*Nothing is set in cement yet but those long-awaited plans for a giant Ferris wheel to be erected as a major Strip sightseeing tourist attraction are getting closer to reality. Although the operators of the Singapore Ferris wheel have had serious conversations in the past few days with The Mirage executives for “The Big Wheel” to replace the now-shuttered fiery volcano attraction its not yet certain that will be the final location—but at least talks and approvals for its installation are ongoing.

*When Love/Hate opens the new nightclub inside the Treasure Island to take the place of the now-closed former Tangerine nightspot it will come complete with a Miami Ink tattoo parlor attached to it. The ink-artist hangout’s show is a top-rated Learning Channel cable TV hit and its expected that the Vegas version will be added into the on-camera features of the series. Owner Chris Nunez is moving to Vegas to head-up the nightspot and the inkery in association with Pure Management.

*From our Surveillance File: Friends star Matthew Perry flew in from Hollywood to see his friends Shanna Moakler and Courtney Salgado appear in Pieces (of ass) at the Steve Wyrick Theatre in Planet Hollywood Resort’s Miracle Mile shopping center… future Hall of Fame linebacker Junior Seau partied with his pals until the early morning hours at Pure nightclub in Caesars Palace… recording artist Gavin Degraw, hot with his “I’m In Love With A Girl” single took a posse of pals for dinner and drinks at the Sierra Gold hangout… comedian Roseanne Barr brought a flock of friends to watch entertainer Gordie Brown’s impressions show at the V Theater in Planet Hollywood Resort.

*The first ultra-pool in Vegas—Wet Republic at MGM Grand—had renowned DJ’s Grand Master Flash and Eric Cubeechee as its first soft-opening visitors. The two mix-masters partied with the lavish customers and “kicked the tires” of the new custom DJ booth giving it “two thumbs up.”
