STRIP SCRIBBLES
*Just what went on at Nicky Hilton’s fashion show when a Vegas acquaintance allegedly had his invitation credentials withdrawn, but somehow he managed to squeeze his way inside. Once inside, though, he allegedly got the cold shoulder from Paris, Nicky and beaufriend David Katzenberg, plus parents Rick and Kathy Hilton. Is that the end of the never-understood-in-the-first-place relationship? That’s what their closest pals are saying!
*The new Koi restaurant at Planet Hollywood was booked out by Paramount Pictures for a party for their new release, Tropic Thunder, unveiled at the ShoWest movie exhibitor’s convention. Manager Will Dunbar told me that stars Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. were among those cavorting thru the one-night only jungle paradise that featured go-go dancers dressed in camouflage bikinis!
*Congratulations to The Venetian and The Palazzo owner Sheldon Adelson for being presented with the Distinguished Patriot Award at the fourth annual Armed Forces Foundation Congressional gala in Washington DC.
Sheldon was heralded as a patriotic American for generous above and beyond the call of duty contributions to the military and their families.
*Congratulations to the Hawaiian Tropic Zone at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile for being named one of our city’s Top Ten new restaurants by CitySearch, a leading online lifestyle guide. The Web site praises celebrity chef David Burke’s tantalizing menu and owner Dennis Riese for bringing glitz and glamour back into fine dining.
*Congratulations to the three-member public relations team at Caesars Palace for being presented with the award for Best Small Corporate Communications Team of the Year at the PR Week awards in New York. Ken Langdon, who recently began his own new Heat Communications here, led the team at the time, which was specifically singled out for marketing the Absolut Suite experience and the opening of the new Bette Midler show.
*The most innovative golf event of the year, the World Series of Golf that combines the skill of the sport with the wagering savvy of poker, returns here on May 12-15. Over 120 golfers, including poker players Phil Ivey, Phil Gordon and Rhett Butler, will be headquartered at The Mirage for the Texas Hold’em-styled betting on each shot at each hole to air on NBC.
*The gorgeous Trashy Lingerie girls are back in town this weekend happily exposing their naughty knickers, thigh-high seamed stockings, busty bras and provocative panties at the Palms.
They will stay on for the Halloween Costumes and Party convention starting Monday at the Sands convention center. But the torrid temptresses strut their stuff Saturday night for the high-rollers in The Mint and then throw an exotic erotic extravaganza with Girls Next Door star Bridget at the Playboy Club on Sunday night that will make the bunnies look modest! Now it’s time for us to hook up all the clasps on the other 44-double delight weekend highlights of our sexy city in what we refer to around here affectionately as the ROYAL ROBIN RUNDOWN:
Friday, Mar. 14:
*Comedy is king and queen this weekend—Bill Maher pushes political buttons at the Hard Rock for two nights, David Spade hits the punch-lines at Planet Hollywood thru tomorrow evening, Ray Romano performs his at home standup comedy at The Mirage, and my Star Search finalist Sinbad, who has been making fans laugh out loud since we discovered him back in the early 80’s, is at the Orleans through Sunday night. The domestic goddess, Roseanne Barr hops in hula-style from Hawaii now every Saturday through Wednesday for her new run of shows at the Sahara.
*For songs and music of yesteryear check out Bill Medley with Paul Revere and the Raiders starting tonight through Sunday at the South Point, while Lou Christie is up at the Suncoast. The countdown to St. Paddy’s day gets underway at the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay with Flogging Molly and the Green 17 Tour tonight and tomorrow.

Saturday, Mar. 15:
*There’s “Unfinished Business” to settle when boxing champions Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez go fist-to-fist at Mandalay Bay in a super featherweight championship contest. Expects fans from as far away as Manila and Mexico to be rooting for their favorites. Win or lose, Juan Manuel will join with bantamweight champion Abner Mares for the official after-fight party at the new Hawaiian Tropic Zone in the Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile.
*Hard to believe the Moody Blues have been strumming and singing their hits for 50-years, but they are still going strong. Originally they started as an R&B group, but moved onto a unique folk-rock distinctive hit sound. Back in the 60’s they even opened for The Beatles before becoming superstars in their own right. They play the Planet Hollywood for one night only this evening. Meantime, down at the Star of the Desert Arena at Buffalo Bills on the state line, veteran rock and roll star Jerry Lee Lewis pounds out the piano to set off great balls of fire.
*The Gatlin Brothers have also been around with their country sounds for many a year, and they play their hits and some new material as they say All Aboard out at the Boulder Station.
*Gorgeous blonde actress Molly Sims celebrates the official opening of the new Dos Caminos restaurant in The Palazzo. She’ll do a mod-mex dinner with celebrity chef Scott Linquist and then stay on for the late night fun of the Sala ultra lounge with celebrity DJ Paul Sevigny. Molly’s visit serves as a fundraiser for her favorite charity, the Friends of El Faro—an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico.
*Two stars of The Venetian’s Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Phantom, Anthony Crivello and Kristen Hertzenberg will sing the national anthem at the final games of the Mountain West Conference Basketball Championships at Thomas & Mack.
*I can look into the future and predict that psychic believer John Edward will cross over to the other-side of the Flamingo to reveal amazing insights.
Sunday, Mar. 16:
*Today may very well be the official start to March Madness with the field of 65 being set for the NCAA Tournament which opens Tuesday, but I’m betting the extra bounce will be when the super-sexy sassy senoritas from Trashy Lingerie party at the Palms Playboy Club with Bridget Marquardt from the Girls Next Door from E! Entertainment. The Trashy models will willingly show off their wild wanton costumes.
*Believe it or not, there’s a convention arriving today that just specializes in those wild Halloween costumes that set eyeballs popping every Oct. 31. The International Halloween Costume Party Show starts a four-day run at the Sands Convention Center. Expect more attention-grabbing spine-tingling outfits than you’ve ever believed anyone would dare wear outside the bedroom!
*Brent Barrett and Tina Walsh, who both star in Phantom at The Venetian, are the celebrity judges at the first annual Las Vegas Easter Bonnet competition and show at the Chippendales Theater in the Rio. Hats of all description—wild and wacky, weird and wonderful—have been submitted by the casts of all our Strip shows to raise funds for the HIV outreach program of the St. Therese Center.
*There’s a St. Paddy’s Eve concert at The Joint in the Hard Rock with the Young Dubliners, The Fenians and Wild Celts.
