STRIP SCRIBBLES
*Luxe Life has learned that the Beatles Fest is returning for a second consecutive year to The Mirage from June 29 through July 1. It will be the first Vegas festival appearances for Mellow Yellow star Donovan, who 40-years ago visited India for the first time with The Beatles. It will also be the first Festival appearance for Pattie Boyd, who married George Harrison after they met during the filming of A Hard Days Night, and for my friend, former Beatles record chief Ken Mansfield who has authored two Beatle-related books. Fellow Liverpool singer-musicians Billy J. Kramer and Spencer Davis will also make the trip here for the Festival.
*Billionaire Donald Trump is wasting no time in shaking up our restaurant scene. He’s already raided several of Nicky Hilton and Wilmer Valderama’s Company American bistro staffers at LAX in the Luxor for his new DWT restaurant at Trump Tower opening at month’s end. Former Bradley Ogden chef, David Varley has joined “The Donald’s” team along with Lucas Riemans, assistant manager and fellow Company staffers sommelier Mike Schearin and chef Anthony Fusco, both formerly of Guy Savoy.
*Actor Nicholas Cage enjoyed a long night on the town! First he showed up for the fifth time to see Lance Burton’s Master Magician show at the Monte Carlo resort. He starred in last year’s movie Next, about a Las Vegas magician who could see two minutes into the future. Also there: comedian-actor Damon Wayans with a party of ten friends.
Later Nicholas, wearing a bright red suit, turned up with a friend at 1:45 a.m. in the Ghostbar atop the Palms resort. He ordered a window table but then spent most of the time on the outdoor patio telling staff there that he loves Ghostbar because of its intimacy and fabulous views. From there he went to the Bellagio and spent time at The Bank nightclub, where Damon and his pals also showed up again!
*Former world no.1 tennis player and our beloved hometown hero, Andre Agassi took his wife, Steffi Graff to dinner at George Maloof’s N9NE Steakhouse restaurant at the Palms, but they nixed a table, preferring supper at the bar.
Buffalo Bills center Melvin Fowler was so in awe of the tennis champion he asked him if they could snap a photo together! Andre agreed! He and Steffi dined on calamari, steak filets with green beans, with Andre preferring vodka and cranberry juice while Steffi had martinis. Just a regular local’s night out!
*The Sopranos actress Lorraine Bracco turned up at Bette Midler’s new show at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace and discovered burlesque queen Dita Von Teese in a nearby seat… Pamela Anderson’s quickie-ex hubby, Rick Salomon, who allegedly will appear in Cameron Diaz’s new movie, My Sisters Keeper as a courtroom bailiff, was getting close as he could to PussyCat Dolls headliner Rachel Sterling in their lounge at Pure nightclub in Caesars Palace… Gorgeous actress Summer Glau, from the hit TV show, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, partied at Tao to celebrate its office success.
*Amidst rumors of a marriage bust-up in the Governor’s mansion, our state’s chief executive, Jim Gibbons took time out from the domestic crisis to join friends to laugh-out-loud at the zany antics of the Blue Man Group at The Venetian—but the First Lady wasn’t in the party! Actress Sonja Sohn, who stars in HBO’s The Wire also watched the Blue Man show.
*The sixth location, but first in Vegas, of L.A. Sunset Tan has just officially opened at Palms Place in George Maloof’s resort casino condo property. Located within the two-story Drift Spa on the sixth floor of the new Palms tower, the salon claims the golden glow of a tanned radiant skin takes less than five minutes and lasts almost two full weeks! Filming there of the entire new second season of the E! Network reality series began over the weekend, too.
