STOMP OUT LOUD’S FIRST ANNIVERSARY
When Vegas shows celebrate milestones and anniversaries I love to track down the fun facts and behind the scenes secrets that audiences would never know.
So now the enthusiastic and energized Stomp Out Loud musical tonight hits its one year mark at the Planet Hollywood Resort Luxe Life just had to access some scintillating statistics:
In its first 12 months the frenzied frantic musical dancers have demolished 2,080 brooms, 560 poles and 2,184 newspapers that they use to create unique sounds. In each performance 18 garbage cans and 24 lids especially imported from Britain are used. The cast has destroyed 160 of the tall bins, 100 small bins and 760 lids with all the banging and beating! At each show 69 boxes containing a mixture of ping-pong balls and dried beans to create their specific sound, are used. Over 830 were used and broken during the first year!
In the “Walkers” number, four performers wear 55-gallon oil drums and attached ski boots. Each one weighs 48 pounds, which means that they lift 96 pounds at each show. The binding and boot assembly has been rebound 12 times over the year. Two tanks with some 540 gallons of water are used in the “Waterphonics” number and are cleaned every other week. Total number of hours of show rehearsals hit 755 hours but that didn’t include the swing trainings, which is an additional seven hours a day over several weeks of the year. All that noise and all that unbelievable energy makes the cast extremely thirsty here in the desert. Their personal 1-liter water-bottle bill tallied up to an amazing 11,684 bottles over the year.
The official one-year anniversary cake will be presented to the cast on stage tonight (THURS) in its own $28-million, 1,500-seat Planet Hollywood Resort showroom. Everybody who has been to see the unique show including a regular pilgrimage of Hollywood stars such as Tommy Lee, Cedric the Entertainer, David Hasselhoff, Sugar Ray Leonard, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf have all raved about Stomp Out Loud. If you haven’t seen it yet make sure its on your “To Do” list as soon as possible. You will jump to your feet to applaud at the nightly standing ovation! The cast is talented and enthusiastic beyond any words I could write!
