STAR-STUDDED GRAND OPENING OF THE PALAZZO RESORT
Fireworks lit up the Strip last night when the new $1.9-billion The Palazzo resort opened up alongside The Venetian. Despite almost freezing temperatures billionaire board chairman of Las Vegas Sands Corp., Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Dr. Miriam Adelson toasted with champagne as I did the countdown to set off the incredible lighting show.
It was a star-studded gala celebration led by the three top company executives, Bill Weidner with wife, Lynn, Brad Stone and Rob Goldstein with wife Cheryl .
It was the first time that star-chefs Mario Batali, Charlie Trotter, Wolfgang Puck and Emeril Lagasse had actually all worked together—even though they are best friends. Wolf couldn’t resist serving up his signature pizzas for the celebrity crowd.
A striking two-story waterfall dominates the fountains of the ornate lobby that connects the Palazzo to the Venetian—and gorgeous models posed in the water to add to the impact of the interior designs.
Among those walking the red carpet were actresses Claire Danes and Hilary Swank, singer actress Mandy Moore and supermodel, TV star Rebecca Romjin.
Check back to Luxe Life on Monday for the full photo-report plus all the other celebrity photos of Rita Rudner, Christina Ricci, Angie Harmon and Desperate Housewives star, James Denton. He told me last night (THURS) that just before leaving his suite for the festivities he’d whooped with joy that the Directors Guild in Hollywood had settled with the studios and producers to avoid a strike and he was hopeful that the writers would accept a similar package so he could resume filming the hit ABC show within a month!
The three-day long opening celebration continues today (FRI) and winds up on Saturday night with a VIP concert starring Diana Ross, Seal, Wayne Brady and the cast of the Broadway hit, The Jersey Boys.
