It’s a rare Vegas appearance for superstar Robert Redford when he’s honored at today’s opening luncheon of the ShoWest movie convention kicking off at the Bally’s/Paris resort casino hotels.

He picks up the Visionary Award for all of his contributions to the industry as a result of his Sundance Film festival and the Sundance movie cable-TV channel.

We’re also expecting Bette Midler to attend today’s luncheon to support actress-director Helen Hunt, who will be awarded the Breakthrough Director of the Year statuette.
