OUR SIZZLING STEAMY SEXY EXCLUSIVE LUXE LIFE INTERVIEW WITH BEST-SELLING LUST, LEER AND LOVE AUTHOR JACKIE COLLINS
The world’s best selling beautiful lady author, Jackie Collins launches her 26th book today (WED) and the romance author is on a six-week long nationwide book tour by bus to promote Married Lovers.
Her very first stop was here in Vegas at the Paris resort before going onto other Harrah’s casinos coast-to-coast. Over drinks at Bradley Ogden’s restaurant in Caesars Palace my long-time British pal chatted with me about the new novel.
RL: Married Lovers is a continuation of what book or is it completely new?
JC: It is actually two characters. It is my 26th book, all new characters. It is about a beautiful fitness instructor called Cameron Paradise who comes to Hollywood fleeing from an abusive husband in Australia and interacts with three very high-powered Hollywood couples and changes their lives forever.
RL: Does this go on in real life Hollywood?
JC: Yes. I think it does go on in marriages, you can be married to somebody, but you can meet someone who is your absolute soul mate outside of that marriage. So now there is a dilemma, you have this passion for someone else, but you are still married. I wanted to cover that. It is also about a teenage Russian girl who is abused and is in a brothel in Poland, and then is in Amsterdam on the street. She is rescued by one of my American characters and eventually ends up in Hollywood under incredible circumstances. It is all real life.
RL: So somewhere in Hollywood, there is a former brothel child?
JC: Robin, you know that. I tone everything done, because truth is much stranger than fiction and like me you know where all the secrets are buried.
RL: This tour on a bus, why Harrah’s casinos around the country?
JC: Because they love me. I am a gambler and I write a lot about Vegas so my publicist said let’s go out on a bus to tour. I have this incredible former Mariah Carey bus and it is fantastic. I have a queen-size bedroom and three TV’s. I have already begun writing my 27th book while on the road. It is called Poor Little Bitch Girl. Vegas is the first stop and then six weeks later I’ll be back home in LA finishing off the next one. Vegas has been fun as always and we signed lots of copies for the fans.
RL: So six weeks on the road makes you like a rock star.
JC: It is great. The bus is so great. It has pictures of me and I am going to have so much fun with it. When you go to a casino, you get all the wives when the husbands are gambling. I get to see America. I don’t have any Vegas casino action in this new Married Lovers, but there will be plenty in Poor Little Bitch Girl, because I always come back to Vegas. I love it and the last book Drop Dead Beautiful was about Lucky making another hotel here, but it will come back in a big way in the next book.
RL: Do you think all of your successful books are about escapism because people think the world is going to hell in a handbasket?
JC: You are right. People love to pick up my books and have an escape. People always ask why my characters are good looking, I say why not. They also say why are all the men so well endowed, and I say why not? If I can give happy endings. … I can stand in the hotels and I have info for a million stories. People want my books, Drop Dead Beautiful was a No. 1 hit in 40 different countries. I have sold over 400 million books during my career. It is great. I see rock stars that are like I have sold 40 million records and I am like really? Is that all? Hollywood Wives sold over 15 million copies alone and that’s more than most platinum albums!
RL: What is the challenge that makes you want to keep on writing new books?
JC: I love it. I have a passion for writing. I wake up and I want to create characters. I am lucky and there are few authors that have been around as long as me and still hit the bestseller list. I do it because I love it. I love the adventure and being on a bus and meeting my fans.
RL: Your books are sexier than the Sex in the City blockbuster movie. Infact I think you said there was zero sex in the city?
JC: Well I love the guy, the sexy Italian guy; he is very sexy, there seemed like less sex in the movie than in the show. I love the movie. In my book, Anya when she first comes to America, all she does is watch Sex in the City. She learns English that way and that shoes are very important. She likes Jimmy Choo’s and they are her security blanket. I am watching the show and they don’t seem to have jobs, but they have beautiful apartments and boyfriends and that is the way she feels she should be. Married Lovers has all the usual love and lust that you’d expect. Its hotter between the sheets in my books than anything you see in the movies or on television.
RL: I have to tell you that you are looking great. You keep on looking better everytime we see each other.
JC: I am a low maintenance person. I do everything myself. I don’t have time to do all the things that women in Hollywood do and I wouldn’t anyway. They are so busy with manicures and Pilates and yoga and they all look the same with long blonde hair, the same puffy cheeks, and lips. I don’t know how you tell them apart because the girl you go out with today is the same as the last girl you went out with.
RL: Are you romantically involved these days?
JC: I live my life like a bachelor; I have a man for every occasion. I think that is what keeps me young in mind, spirit and body. I don’t want to live with anybody, and I want to be free. When I was a kid I read Playboy and I envied those guys with the beautiful car, house and music system. I have all that. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. I am a kick ass woman.
Jackie was also co-captain for the Queens of Hearts all women poker team and we’ll have the results of their game-playing in the World Series of Poker here at Luxe Life tomorrow. (THURS). While Jackie was on the Strip she took in Sir Elton John’s Red Piano show at Caesars Palace where daytime soap opera queen Susan Lucci was also in the audience.
