Billionaire developer and owner Donald J. Trump and Paula M. Shugart, President of Miss Universe Organization, have revealed the final lineup of celebrity judges for the 2008 Miss USA Pageant: beleaguered ex Beatle Paul McCartney’s wife, Heather Mills, contestant on season four of Dancing With the Stars; Rob Schneider, star of I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry; Joey Fatone, host of The Singing Bee; Kristian Alfonso, entrepreneur and star of NBC’s Days of Our Lives; Olympic gold-medal swimmer Amanda Beard; Christian Siriano, this season’s winner of Bravo’s hit show Project Runway; San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne “Lights Out” Merriman; Hollywood hair-dresser Ken Paves; Kelly Carlson, star of Nip/Tuck; and Vanity Fair celebrity journalist George Wayne.
Rock band Finger Eleven will perform live its hit song “Paralyzer” that claimed No. 1 on the charts and sold over 2-million digital downloads and 500,000 ring tones. As previously reported here in Luxe Life, Donny & Marie Osmond host next Friday’s (April 11) live NBC telecast of the 57th Annual Miss USA Pageant from Planet Hollywood Resort here on center-Strip.
“Nothing could be better than two iconic hosts, a “paralyzing” performance and world class judges in Las Vegas with the hottest women in the country,” said Paula. “It’s a perfect combination that will make this live telecast the sexiest and most exciting in our 57 year history!”
Rachel Smith, Miss USA 2007, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour telecast to be held in Planet Hollywood Resort’s Theatre for the Performing Arts. Each contestant from 50 states and the District of Columbia will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. For the first time, the Miss USA competition will be broadcast in high definition with Sony broadcast technology including HD cameras for opening shots and pre-taped segments. Starting this Friday regular folks can go online to nbc.com/MissUSA and vote for the Miss USA contestant they think should be the winner of the Photogenic USA™ “Hot Shots” Award. The award goes to the contestant who best exemplifies beauty through the lens of a camera and the winner of that online vote is revealed during the live telecast. Following the tape-delayed broadcast here on the West Coast, the entire 2008 Miss USA Pageant will be available for online viewing. Meantime the glamour girls are keeping to a jam-packed schedule of interviews and shooting video segments around town for inclusion in the live telecast including at Planet Hollywood Resort’s Privé nightclub where they stuck to the no-alcohol rule.
Our intrepid photographer Scott Doctor went with them to the tank at the Golden Nugget downtown for the Fremont Street Experience and Miss USA photographers Patrick Prather and Darren Decker went out to Nellis Air Force base for these Luxe Life memories.
Tomorrow (FRI) we’ll have the latest photo coverage as they hit the one-week-to-go- mark with a visit to the Stomp Out Loud musical an from their On Top of Cloud 9: Once Upon a Dream charity fundraising dinner.
