MILLION-DOLLAR POKER AT THE PALACE
Poker pros have been jockeying for position in the first-ever Caesars Palace Classic the past few days and will continue on through the weekend. Then come Monday, the championship portion begins and those lucky enough to have amassed $10,000 in winnings will get a shot at the guaranteed “no less than a million-dollar” payday two-days later-on Wednesday (Oct 24). The winner, who could have begun the 12-day endurance contest with as little as a $500 buy-in, not only gets the mega-bucks, but also a trophy and a one-of-a-kind watch. “It’s unlike any other tournament in Vegas and we want it to become the most luxurious, classiest tournament in town,” said poker manager James Pedulia.

*Congratulations to ABBA and the Mamma Mia folks on the sixth anniversary tonight of the original Broadway opening and Saturday will be its 2,500th performance there at the Winter Garden and becomes the 18th longest running show in Broadway history.
The Vegas cast tell me that when they celebrated their 1,800th performance last week at Mandalay Bay they learned that this coming Sunday will mark the exact day back in 1973 that ABBA began their first recording sessions
for the Swedish group’s debut album that inspired the theatrical show marrying all their hits together!.
*Vegas party queens Jill Barnhard and Sandy Peltyn have been picked by Lifetime TV to star in its new party reality series. Cameras will film Sandy’s party next Friday for her son, R.J’s birthday costume ball at the boutique Artisan Hotel where they’ve taken over all 100 rooms for the revelry. I will MC the midnight beauty contest and fashion show! Then the video crews will head up to Red Rock in December when realtor Jill Barnhard throws an impressive bash to celebrate her 17-year-old daughter, Lauren Hudman, winner of the Miss Teen Nevada pageant. Both episodes will air on the cable network series on Fridays at 10 p.m. starting in January.
*This New Years Eve fireworks display across the rooftops of 12 Strip hotel rooftops will run eight-minutes and 20-seconds, but it’s taken 40-hours so far of planning the design and programming of the extravaganza. First work actually began back in May!
