MASKED MEN OF MIDSUMMERS
It was the first, but it sure won’t be the last! Playboy king Hugh Hefner’s first Midsummer Nights Dream party at the Palms pool was an “overwhelming success” according to hotel owner George Maloof.
“It exceeded all our expectations with over 2,000 partygoers; many of them fully in the spirit of the night. We’ll do it again next year and even have masks for the men on sale at the door.”
The costumes, or lack thereof, were outrageous - men were masked, and more than a thousand girls dressed to kill in the laciest of lingerie and the naughtiest of next-to-nothings. They say a picture is worth a thousand words – so here are a million of them!
Shocking, scandalous and sensational, but some female guests wore just body paint to cover up strategic areas! The largest of the private cabanas went for as much as $10,000 each, with other revelers happily shelling out up to $200 each to get in.
Among the celebrities attending the eastward move of Hef’s Holmby Hills mansion were Mindfreak magician Criss Angel, NBA superstars Lebron James and Amare Stoudamire, UFC champion Chuck Lidell, rockers Sum 41, rapper Nelly, numerous Playboy bunnies and x-rated porn-actor Ron Jeremy. Later, Criss kept the party going from a dance floor booth up at the MOON nightclub, with Chauncy Billups and Ron Jeremy joining the fun.
Elsewhere in the Palms it was celebrity gridlock with magic-man David Blaine enjoying the Seafood platter and a porterhouse steak at the N9NE steakhouse where Michael Finley of the San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns center, Amare Stoudamire were dining. Sacramento Kings star Mike Bibby brought in his entourage that included his mom, Virginia on 2 consecutive nights. Also at N9NE this week were Team USA players, Kevin Durant, Nick Collison and J.J. Jones, plus NBA players Rip Hamilton, Derrick Williams, Chris Paul, Ray Allen, Quintana Richardson and Josh Howard, as well as rapper Xzibit, who later jumped on the mic up at the Moon nightclub for an impromptu mini-concert watched by G-Love and Slightly Stoopid band members after their concert in the Pearl.
Congratulations to owner, George Maloof, with the news that his Palms Place condo hotel and spa has officially “topped out” with the last of the 295 million pounds of concrete bringing the 47-story tower to its full height. Occupancy, with a host of NBA stars as buyers, begins early next year.
In the building are 599 suites and spectacular penthouses, a gigantic 50,000 square foot pool and spa enclave that boasts the first hammam in Vegas. It will also be the location of L.A.’s famed tanning studio, Sunset Tan, as seen on E!. An elevated SkyTube will transport condo residents and guests directly to the casino restaurants on an enclosed moving walkway.
