IS SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE HEADED TO THE STRIP?
Rumors and reports are coming out of both New York and Chicago that veteran TV producer Lorne Michaels will bring a live version of his long-running Saturday Night Live NBC hit to a Vegas casino. He reportedly says that he’s in the early stages of negotiations and names such as Martin Short, Jon Lovitz and Julia Sweeny have been tossed around for both the old and new sketch and standup materials including a topical updated news segment. Allegedly he also wants to involve many of the former SNL cast, who have gone onto big-time movie comedy, such as Steve Martin, Chris Rock and Adam Sandler. They would be among the rotating headliners performing stand-up comedy routines.
There was talk many moons ago of something similar being worked into the Second City revue at the Flamingo but difficult star-schedules prevented it getting “off the ground” in the past.
