FIRST KEG
I know we’ve only reached September 17 on the calendar, but it’s already Oktoberfest, the annual beer-drinking holiday celebration anywhere in the world for Germans. For the third consecutive year, legendary magicians Siegfried & Roy, who were born in Germany, picked up the traditional wooden hammer to strike the first keg at the Hofbrauhaus here.
The weekend event marked the official start of this year’s beer drinking festival that will last through October 31. The illusionists promoted the upcoming Saturday, October 14 fundraiser they are hosting to benefit the Las Vegas Police K-9’s – it’s the 17th annual K-9 trials at the Orleans Arena and is the most renowned of its kind in America.
Said Siegfried: “Please join us in supporting and assisting in the care of our canines. We are asking you to support our officers as they have been the backbone for our community, our country and our world. They’ve literally changed our lives - now it’s time to change theirs by supporting the caretakers of our community who, as fearless leaders, continue to empower us with courage and strength.”
Asked how he was progressing with his amazing miraculous medical comeback, Roy said he’d recently treated himself to a brand new Mercedes to use at his Little Bavaria adding: “Look at me now. I am back and better than ever.”
