DANCING NAIL-BITER

Despite having the lowest judges’ score for a failed foxtrot, our hometown hero Wayne Newton is safe - his loyal fans rallied magnificently and voted to keep him on Dancing with the Stars last night.

But the internet blogs are bursting with criticism of the voting procedures that eliminated handsome model Albert Reed and partner Anna Trebinskaya instead. Now five men and five women remain to take on the ballroom battle next Monday – and still in contention is our other Vegas fighter, Floyd Mayweather, who at some point has to start training seriously for a December bout, and how he will juggle both is starting to worry some fight-fans. Also safe for now are Vegas headliner Marie Osmond and Dallas Mavericks multi-millionaire owner, Mark Cuban, who’s a regular at basketball-buddy George Maloof’s Palms resort. Now the internet blogs are predicting the next showdown will be between Wayne and Mark in five days time. Incidentally, for the program’s addicts, last year’s star-swirler Mario Lopez will celebrate his birthday on Friday at TAO, and since there’s plenty of spark between Floyd and his partner Karina Smirnoff, who is romantically linked with Mario, it’ll be a fascinating three-way photo if all show up together!!! Karina joked that, whatever happens, she’s moving to Vegas!

Tragically, actress Jane Seymour missed last night’s results show because she had to fly overnight home to England to deal with the sudden and unexpected death of her mother. Class-act Wayne was elected by the star cast and crew to speak for all of them. “Jane, we all love you. You are in our hearts and prayers at this difficult time and we all wish you well,” he said. Jane, who has a collection of her artwork on display at a Fashion Show mall gallery here, vows to dance in next Monday’s show as a tribute to her mom, who was a huge fan of the original British TV version.
