CURIOUS CEILING COLLAPSE AT CATHOUSE CAUSES CLOSURE!
The sexy brothel-inspired Cathouse loungerie at the Luxor has closed just two-months after opening! It’s not what you think, however, because business is booming. In fact, “booming” a little too much because the party noise and amplified DJ bass-beats may have caused a confounding construction problem! Parts of the ceiling came crashing down late on Monday night after a crack appeared and the floor slipped eight-inches above the casino. Yesterday it had slipped a further four-inches to a one foot total! Owners of the new hot-club have decided to temporarily close it until engineers and hotel-casino officials figure out how best to resolve the unknown problem.
One Luxe Life reader there at the time told me: “One moment everybody was dancing and having a great time, the next we were being told to ‘get out.’ There was no panic, just an orderly evacuation, and everybody got out safely without any injury. But it was rather surreal to watch chunks of the ceiling collapse and crash down.”
The ultra-lounge was remodeled from a previous Greek seafood restaurant that occupied a second floor mezzanine over-hang that originally had windows for diners to look down into the casino.
The adjoining Kerry Simon celebrity-chef Cathouse restaurant will re-open tonight after a two-day closure.
The club’s owners have been given a go-ahead that there’s no danger in the fine-food section of the property, which has attracted a slew of stars since opening on New Year’s Eve. Iron Chef winner Kerry has played host to regulars Vince Neil, Criss Angel, Artie Lange, Tito Ortiz and Jenna Jameson—and even hotel tycoon Steve Wynn’s wife, Elaine! So for now it’s dining, not dancing! Luxe Life will keep you abreast with news on the reopening of the ultra-lounge—so keep reading every day!
