COMEDY MAGIC DEBUT FOR NATHAN BURTON AT THE FLAMINGO

Illusionist Nathan Burton’s new 60-minute whirlwind magic show opens today (MON) at the Flamingo—and it comes complete with a new set designed by hometown expert Andy Walmsley who has produced sets for American Idol and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. “It’s bigger and better than anything I’ve ever had in my 10 years of performing magic in Vegas” Nathan told us. Its 43 feet wide and 23 feet tall and made mostly from aluminum.

During the load-in session Andy commented : “Nathan is a brilliant performer and I saw him up close during the tapings for America’s Got Talent, which we both worked on. I was really impressed by his stage presence. When he called to ask me to design a whole new set for his new Flamingo run I gave him an immediate yes.” Says Nathan: “My signature illusions ‘Microwave of Death’ and ‘Steamroller’ will be in the show but we’ve added some new surprises. I’m thrilled that after my recent TV successes including with Wayne Newton on The Entertainer to now move to the iconic landmark of the Flamingo. For now Nathan will be seen every afternoon, starting today, at 4 p.m. but on May 12 when the Vegas media get to review his new act it will be an 8 p.m. performance.

I’ve learned that he will probably fill in on other 8 p.m. nightly shows alternating with Morris Day and the Time while current headliner, singer Toni Braxton recovers from a serious heart ailment. Toni, who is on a two-week hiatus, is still being treated for the medical problem, which now might jeopardize her hoped for early May return.
