AVRIL SPRAYS CHAMPAGNE ON PARTY-GOERS AS ICE-T’S WIFE COCO PLAYS TABLE HOSTESS AT NEW PRIVE OPENING
Boxer Zab Judah has some impressive high-roller fans. They sent him 15 bottles of Dom Perignon champagne just to tell him “he’s the greatest.” It was opening night of the new Prive Club from Miami at the Planet Hollywood resort casino. UFC fighter Keith Jardine along with Sylvester Stallone’s actor brother, Frank, Jalen Rose, David Spade (who’d been hanging out in the hotel’s VIP lounge pondering where to party), Palms tycoon George Maloof and poker princes Antonio Esfandiari and David Williams joined him in the champagne pop-out! Ice-T and Coco performed in the DJ booth to hype up the crowd as a ceremonial blessing by a monk with a serenade of bagpipes officially opened another new Vegas hot spot. Coco shook, sashayed and strutted her assets as Ice T rapped into the mic to “Party like a Rock Star.” While Ice was playing the music, Coco “worked” as a hostess, showing guests to their tables as an added unexpected treat! Opium Group owner Roman Jones of Prive and his girlfriend actress Denise Richard joined in the fun. Next night, Maxim Magazine took over with November hot-model Susie Castillo, a former MTV VJ, hosting. Rapper Too Short jumped up on the DJ booth and performed “Blow The Whistle” and “Monkey Shaker” while swigging champagne. Also joining in that party were Entourage actor Kevin Dillon, adult-world actress Jenna Jameson and UFC champ, boyfriend Tito Ortiz, Baywatch actor Jeremy Jackson, and Station Casino owners, Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta. Long time sporting pals Charles Barkley and Roy Green partied alongside former Hells Angel stuntman-bodyguard, Chuck Zito, who had all the girls at his booth dancing to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”
Our intrepid photographer, Scott Doctor, obviously grid-locked in place because of the Strip closure, HQ’d at Planet Hollywood and shot our Luxe Life photo coverage along with the midnight fireworks display.
For Prive’s first actual New Year’s party, rapper Lil John played DJ and welcomed midnight countdown hostess, punk rock singer Avril Lavigne—dressed in T-shirt, plaid school-girl skirt and military combat boots! She earned herself a cool $150,000 for the gig! Her husband, Deryck Whibley from Sum 41, had ten friends in tow. Avril donned a 2008 princess tiara, kissed her rocker husband, and then jumped from table to table and danced atop the couches. At midnight the couple joined Lil John for the midnight countdown and she sprayed two bottles of expensive Cristal champagne over everybody!
Avril and Deryck did the midnight kiss thing and then she hugged Planet Hollywood president Mike Mecca! Rapper Too Short joined Lil John for an impromptu 1 a.m. concert which attracted a new crowd including American Idol judge Randy Jackson, singer Robin Thicke and all the female professional dancers from Dancing with the Stars, including Kym Johnson, Cheryl Burke (with boyfriend Matthew Lawrence who, coincidentally, she’d met a year ago at the hotel) and Edyta Sliwinska. Earlier, my friend Robin met the nightclub’s owner, Roman Jones for dinner at the nearby Strip House restaurant with its owner, Matthew Glazier.
