Daily scandal headline-maker, Britney Spears arrives today to officially open the brand new multi-million-dollar LAX nightclub and NOIR BAR at the Luxor.

The pop-princess collapsed in PURE nightclub at Caesars Palace on New Year’s Eve which started an eight month downward spiral of controversy, from shaved head, to former husband Kevin Federline’s escalating custody battle, followed by the recent eviction from the WYNN hotel when she and her bodyguard fought with photographers. As more than 200 world-wide TV crews and paparazzi photographers descend on Vegas for the Brit-watch, everybody from Hollywood bloggers to Fleet Street headline writers are asking questions:

WILL SHE BE ON HER BEST BEHAVIOR TONIGHT? With Britney one can never tell and one is never surprised with what happens. Despite all the recent antics of traffic tickets, posing nude for photographers, standing up magazine interview appointments and stripping down to her underwear to splash in the sea – she’s expect to be a Girl Gone Mild. That’s because word has leaked that next week her first record in ages drops just in advance of her semi-hush-hush planned appearance on MTV’s Video Music Awards at the Palms come Sunday of next weekend.

WILL SHE RUN INTO FORMER FLAME JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE? It’s highly unlikely that, even though Brit will be in the Luxor and Justin is right next door at the Mandalay Bay resort, their paths will cross - but again, in the mayhem and maelstrom of music, anything is possible. Actress Jessica Biel, who is Justin’s new steady, isn’t going to let her man stray even if he’s curious about his former girlfriend who turned down his invite to duet with him on her next album. Add to the mischief that Justin dated actress Cameron Diaz for four years before Mindfreak magician Criss Angel took up with her and that the wizard is now casting spells on Britney — and you’ve got one more potboiler of a soap opera. It’ll continue next weekend when Justin and Britney move even closer together, appearing at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Meantime, JT’s got his Future Sex Love Show tomorrow and Sunday in Mandalay’s Events Center, featuring special guests Good Charlotte - and for those of you who can’t get tickets for either night, HBO has the at-home TV version on Monday night!

WILL BRITNEY HAVE CRISS ON HER ARM? At this moment, the new-two-you coupling will not walk arm in arm and hand in hand down the LAX red carpet - but Criss will strut his stuff a little earlier and leave Brit for all the solo attention at the Grand Entrance with PURE executives Robert Frey and Steve Davidovitch.

However, expect both Brit and Criss to link up on the VIP stage inside. It’s a known fact that they’ve had at least five overnight dates in Los Angeles, she was expected here Sunday evening for an overnight visit with him as he waited at PURE for her, and rooms had been booked for her at both Caesars and the Luxor. However, she does have rehearsals, supervised by Babyface, blocked off in Burbank next Thursday and Friday to appear on the VMA show, and with Justin up for a record nine nominations (including artist of the year), maybe they might shock and surprise with a kiss to rival Britney’s with Madonna several years back!!

LUXE LIFE is learning that Mindfreak magician Criss Angel has devised two magic illusions for Britney to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards.

One will involve a series of “amazing disappearances” - and “incredible reappearances” while she is performing her new dance single which even in its “leaked” stage is getting rave reviews. The second illusion involves her dance team and musicians rising in some form of a
suspended state above the stage while Britney miraculeously darts between them- also suspended.

Criss and Brit will rehearse the complicated choreography next Thursday and Friday in rehearsal studios in Burbank- and mega-star producer Babyface and Brit will then decide if its polished and safe enough to open the show with!

I’m also hearing that so-called bitter-rivals 50 Cent and Kanye West who both have new records being released 2 days after the Awards show may even appear together in some form of an unusual duet of both hit numbers. No word if they might even duplicate the long-ago controversial Madonna- Britney kiss - but don’t be surprised if something similar happens. For the 40th anniversaery of Rolling Stone magazine celebrating its own festivities at the Hard Rock hotel on the same weekend as VMA’s you can bet the bank they’re both on the cover together!

If Britney winds up in lip-lock with Criss tonight…if Britney pulls yet one more outrageous stunt…if Britney pulls a no-bra low-cut see-through blouse mini-skirted fashion number… if Britney starts to make headlines yet again - LUXE LIFE will be there for it all and we’ll post it as breaking news early tomorrow. Lots of our Strip headliners will join veteran Jerry Lewis for his annual Muscular Dystrophy telethon this weekend live from the SouthPoint casino resort. Tony Danza, now starring in “The Producers” at the Paris, has promised to sing, dance and tap while Lance Burton from the Monte Carlo will pull a few cards from up his sleeves! Zany Carrot Top and ventriloquist Ronn Lucas, both from the Luxor, will haul their wacky and outrageous props and dolls. Heavyweight comics George Wallace from the Flamingo and Louie Anderson from the Excalibur will both make appearances. Cast from Mamma Mia at Mandalay Bay, Ice from the Riviera and Matsuri at the Sahara will also donate their time as volunteers.

The show will open with the Flying Elvises on Sunday night, and before closing time on Monday afternoon you can see Caesars headliner, songbird Celine Dion make a rare on-camera appearance with a couple of songs from her upcoming November album. Jerry, despite his age and health, promises to be there from start to finish of the marathon with good pal Tony Orlando co-hosting from New York City.

Tickets go on sale today for the 12th annual Andre Agassi Grand Slam charitable foundation set for Saturday October 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Already, the tennis champion has lined up Tony Bennett, Kelly Clarkson, Carlos Santana, Matchbox Twenty, Jerry Seinfeld and his best pal, Flamingo headliner George Wallace for a special performance. Santana is the only one of the group to have appeared for Andre before, back in 2002. All the other stars are making their debut for him. In the previous 11 Grand Slam events, 90,000 fans have turned out to raise $61 million for his charity that assists at-risk youth in hometown Vegas. My friend, composer David Foster returns for his 12th year as musical director.

*Palms hotel mogul George Maloof gets a lavish six page color photo profile in Southwest Airlines’ new Spirit magazine, where he’s credited as the man who brought the stars back to Sin City.

*Harrison Ford returned to Vegas for the second time in two months, and this time brought his wife, actress Calista Flockhart and their son to see Cirque du Soleil’s “O” show at Bellagio.

*Lovebirds Tito Ortiz and Jenna Jameson took in two consecutive party nights at the Body English nightclub in the Hard Rock with Luke Walton and Richard Jefferson of the NJ Nets joining them on Night one, and on Night two, magician David Copperfield sat with them while LL Cool J hosted an Addiction Fashion boutique party.

Fellow rapper Lil Jon was there on the mic while LeBron James had cake and flowers sent to his private table to celebrate his ladylove’s birthday. Other celebrities settling in there included Sopranos star Steve Schrippa, Jamie Kennedy, Britney Spears’ former assistant Shannon Funk, Amare Stoudemoire, Wilmer Valderrama and Mindfreak magician Criss Angel.

*The late Australian animal daredevil Steve Irwin’s family stayed way out of danger when his kids Bindi and young baby son Robert with their mom Terri saw Comedy Pet Theater at the V Theater in Planet Hollywood with ringmaster Greg Popovich, who’s taught cats and dogs to do amazing incredible tricks.

*Please don’t forget that our town’s first-ever Restaurant Week gets underway Tuesday with more than 50 participating restaurants on and off the Strip selling special three course dinners priced at $50.07. Proceeds benefit the Three Square food-bank delivery charity. Celebrity chef Tom Colicchio kicks it off Tuesday, Michael Mina follows Wednesday and Hubert Keller follows Thursday. *Its Britney’s big moment as the pop-princess spears thru the red ribbon to officially open the new LAX nightclub at the Luxor, while the more intimate BLUSH at the WYNN opens without the celebrity chaos.

*Grammy nominated and self-confessed American Bad-Ass, Kid Rock does double duty tonight, first with a concert at the Pearl in the Palms followed by a midnight spin as DJ up top in the MOON nightclub. I’m told to expect 5,000 fans, and he’s promised to keep going until 5 a.m.!

*Even I used to disco when the Village People belted out their hits, and the group’s original lead singer, Victor Willis will sing YMCA for sure in his solo gig at the House of Blues.

*The joint will be jumping with that old devil feeling when contemporary swing band, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy casts its spell poolside at the Hard Rock. It will Save Your Soul. An hour later, singer/songwriter/guitarist Pete Yorn will give a listening party for some of his movie soundtracks plus cuts from his Nightcrawler album.

* It’s a zone of rapture with Chris Bliss starting four nights at the Suncoast while Australia’s Little River Band sails smoothly after 30-years of performing worldwide into Boulder Station for an evening of their gentle-rock.

*Since it’s the last Friday of the month, those gorgeous Coyote Ugly girls will show off their sexy bodies by only dressing up in sexy bikinis for the night.

Sat Sept 1:
*The Future Sex Love Show, starring the one and only hot as a pistol star, Justin Timberlake, kisses its way into Mandalay Bay for two back to back nights of shows with Good Charlotte. Justin will perform in the round so everybody gets a good look at the legend of love. Jessica’s expected, but not Britney!

*Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil headlines at the Henderson Pavilion solo, but he’s got the rockers of Quiet Riot and Slaughter as his special guests with an opening performance from Antonio Pontarelli. You’ll be Up All Night/Sleep All Day, which is good for your Metal Health.

*Gorgeous actress and Playboy cover girl, Jenny McCarthy is hosting at PURE nightclub in Caesars Palace. The blonde bombshell always turns it into the party of the night with or without boyfriend Jim Carrey.

*The world’s no.1 DJ, known simply as Tiesto, has two pre-dawn gigs at JET nightclub in the Mirage. His first spin-cycle on his Elements of Life tour is at 1 a.m., and then tomorrow he’ll really go wild at 3 a.m. until the sun comes up.

*Don’t expect any peace and quiet when Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers belt out loud at the House of Blues.

Mon Sept 3
*Please continue to support the annual Jerry Lewis telethon live from the SouthPoint right up until 2 p.m. when Caesars Palace headliner, Celine Dion will close the marathon broadcast.

*The big show is with the reigning king of blues, B.B. King himself and his longtime friend, gospel and soul singer, Al Green. These two legends have racked up almost 100 years of music between them. Love has certainly come to town with this coupling, and all I can say is To Know You is to Love You. No wonder the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award was handed out to the R&B royals!

*The parties rock on into Day four with Scooter & Lavelle at the Hard Rock pool for the Labor Day Relax event while Chris Cox is up at Cherry in the Red Rock and Cartel with Nightmare and Weatherbox plays loud at the House of Blues.

VEGAS- THE ONLY PLACE TO PLAY!

Hard on the heels of yesterday’s Luxe Life coverage of the new LAX nightclub, opening this Labor Day weekend at the Luxor comes the first peek at Vegas’ first boutique nightclub, Blush at the WYNN. It also opens tomorrow night in direct competition - but this club becomes the first intimate night-venue while still holding onto the high energy of its larger club competitors.

LAX is ten-times the size of the 4,500 square foot BLUSH which has been completely remodeled from the former LURE ultra-lounge space, and while BLUSH hosts just 400 people, LAX can hold 3,000! So it’s unfair to make comparisons, but seasoned Vegas nightclub owner Sean Christie proudly points out his attractions.

“Our club will never be so crowded you can’t move. We’ve turned our ceiling into a living light sculpture so that guests can be lit in flattering amber colors. Every single seat will have a purse-drawer so everything from purses to passports can be safely locked away. I like being smaller because we have a very heavy staff-to-customer ratio so we have way better attention to detail and guest needs,” he commented.

Sean is also quick to point out he will not be offering mega-sum bounties for celebrities to host at his nightspot: “That’s become an expensive trend; getting large sums of money to host parties and events. Some clubs have paid out over $100,000 to get a star in for three hours or so. Add in the costs of the round trip private planes, the free suites and dinners for their entourages and things start getting really expensive. It’s just not going to be in our business plan - we’re too small to afford it anyway. We prefer to place our emphasis on luxury, upscale cool and service.”

His stunning cocktail servers will have infused vodkas and muddled fruit-shots for tableside service, and the Red 8 Asian bistro next door will serve up appetizers when the midnight munchies take hold.

When your brother is getting married and you’re the best man, you want the wedding reception to run as smooth as silk. But for former N’Sync star Joey Fatone, who now hosts NBC’s top-rated summer hit, “Singing Bee” everything went wrong. He’d planned the happiness out at Lake Las Vegas, but tears of joy turned to tears of misery when the power went out more times than just once. Out went the lights, then the air conditioning, and temperatures and tempers began to soar. Brother Steven and new bride Whitney turned to Joey saying, “Help!”

Joey, who lives in Orlando, switched on his cell-phone to ring his Florida neighbor, Planet Hollywood owner, Robert Earl. “Done,” said Robert without blinking as he ordered up a fleet of limos and Cadillac SUV’s from his Strip resort casino to go pick up the entire wedding party and move them to his new lounge space.

While the wagons rolled, Robert ordered the catering to save the day, and by the time the newly-weds and the entire wedding group arrived center-Strip, the dream reception all came together without a hitch!

First it was the Coyotes at Coyote Ugly and now comes two new restaurants in the Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood to add more glamour-girls to the battle for headlines in the restaurant world.

The new Hawaiian Tropic restaurant, copying its big sister in New York’s Times Square, will feature the red bikini beauties with modeling and beauty contest challenges nightly.

Now meet the Trader Vixens, who will glamorize their open-air patio with its own palm trees in a thatched-shingled beach hut look looking right across at the Bellagio fountains. Inside is a regular 120-seat dining room complete with a live Polynesian drummer. Owner Doc Wiener, who helped open Coyote at NYNY back in 2001, says the new Trader Vic’s will have far more of a party atmosphere than the other 30 restaurants in the chain in 22 cities around the world.

Yes- the mai-tais will still come with the tiki fan-folded paper miniature umbrella and the same Asian-Polynesian fare the chain is noted for, but the Vegas out-post is far more contemporary than any-other. Doc spent $13.5 million on the new restaurant that comes complete with a winding staircase to provide a Tiki Club ultra lounge with DJ’s and reasonably priced bottle service. He’s set September 21 for the grand opening – exactly one week before the official star-studded Grand Openings of both the Planet Hollywood resort and the Miracle Mile shopping zone.

On September 15, almost opposite on the Strip, the LIGHT Group opens its newest restaurant concept, Diablo’s Cantina at the archway Strip front entrance to the Monte Carlo resort casino.

This is a 13,000 square foot multi-level entertainment complex serving up Old World Mexican cuisine – and of course some very sexy sultry senoritas! Diablo’s Dolls Executive chef Noe Alcala from the Pink Taco at the Hard Rock offers south of the border favorites, including spiced skirt-steak nachos, three layer club quesadillas and the Diablo Death Wings - spicy chicken wings in a smoked jalapeno blue cheese sauce!. No wonder he has 75 different types of tequila to cool you down! But don’t miss out on the Platinum Cadillac, which is the big-bucks upscale version of a classic margarita using Gran Patron Platinum,150th anniversary Grand Marnier, Cointreau and fresh-pressed lemon and lime juices.

After a successful and extended run at club-king Ivan Kane’s 40-Deuce burlesque joint in Hollywood, he’s bringing the Royal Jelly rock show to Vegas.

He’s promised it will be even bigger and better than the rock show in Tinseltown. Says Ivan : “We’ve Vegasized it and the show is so hot with the dangerous-curve dancers and the music will rock you like you’ve never been rocked before.”

It’s a double opening tonight with sexy stocking leg model, Joanna Krupa opening her new Frederick’s of Hollywood and the premiere of Royal Jelly in the new Seduction Lounge. The strip show and rock musicians will blast and burlesque every Thursday night from now on. I’m betting whenever you’ve watched those outright sexy dancers on today’s music videos you’ve always wanted to get up close and personal – well now you can, and they’ll even take off their clothes as they strip-tease to the wild rockers!

Hidden amongst all the Sept 6 thru 9 excitement of MTV’s Video Music Awards is the 40th anniversary celebrations of Rolling Stone magazine. All the festivities with Incubus, Snoop Dogg and other stars will take place all over the Hard Rock poolside and on the summer stage with a rockers poker tournament in the Joint.

That same weekend welcomes the second annual Gods and Goddesses of the Beach volleyball tournaments. Caesars Palace will transform its Roman Plaza amphitheater on the Strip using 6,000 cubic feet of sand to build the court, complete with beach huts. Star players including Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh will be featured in the all-star tournament as the game’s top athletes gear up for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

I’ll play host on Thurs Sept 6 at the Venetian when we help raise money for Sparrow Clubs USA. One critically ill local child will get the proceeds to fight a horrible struggle against a form of cancer producing brain tumors that spread through the nervous system. Entertainer Gordie Brown will surprise with his incredible impersonations, Clint Holmes will sing the songs, ventriloquist Ronn Lucas will mouth off with his unique humor and Cornell Gunther’s Coasters will round out the show.
